Fourpaws Agility Training

Welcome to Four Paws Agility Training School where we hope you and your dog will enjoy many happy hours while you train to become an agility handler.

The dogs usually learn very easily and you may be surprised how quickly they pick things up it’s the handlers who need help especially if you have not tried agility in the past

Just a few things you may need to know if you would like to join us.

All dogs must have had their full range of injections.

You will need to  bring plenty of treats with you for your dog such as small squares of cheese, sausage, cooked liver or something your dog doesn’t usually have in the way of treats as he/she will learn much more quickly if they know there is likely to be a tasty reward.

Also bring your dogs favourite tug toy most dogs like a game of tug and it is a very important piece of training equipment. It is best if you keep a special tug toy that only comes out when you are training your dog in any way. Try not to leave it out with your dogs other toys and use it only when you are training or want to teach anything new.

Your footwear is most important as you progress and start picking up speed on the course as you may slip if you do not have the appropriate footwear. You will need a pair of football boots to wear in wet weather and a pair of astro turf trainers when it’s dry. These distribute your weight evenly over a wider area and do not allow you to slip. You can also purchase special agility shoes ‘DITAS’ from the Agilitynet site but astro turf or hockey trainers are not as expensive. You will not need these shoes until you have completed your introductory course.

We train at Collett Farm, Woodham, Aylesbury BUCKS HP18 0QG, just of the A41 between Bicester and Aylesbury. There is a perimeter fence around the training field so inquisitive dogs cannot wander off and a permanent marquee with tea/coffee facilities for before or after your training session and of course some chairs to rest on! There is also a toilet on site for our needs near the ring. Training will be at weekends during the winter that is from the end of September until the new show season starts in April/May then training will move to weekday evenings.

The charge for agility training is £18.00 per four weeks for an hour lesson with a maximum of eight handlers and dogs payable at the beginning of each month. We also offer obedience training which costs £25.00 for six lessons. Private one to one lessons £17.50 per hour by arrangement.
